Hanley Ramirez smacked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the California Gangsta Luv
defeated the SSB SSB Tar Heels in 11 innings by the score of 10 to 5 at
Minute Maid Field.
The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings. California won the game
in the 11th inning. The big moment was provided by Ramirez who quieted the
home crowd when he lost the ball over the fence for three runs (his 6th of
the season). SSB was out-hit by California, 16 hits to 11.
The victory was credited to Jason Hammel(1-0) who went 2 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Bob Howry(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Ramirez said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and
not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by
game, and pitch by pitch.'
